Down through the Root Paths, the Rootlight Archive spreads across a series of caverns that sink deeper and deeper beneath the Elder Tree. It's never dim down here — the same glowing Rootlight swirls that light the tunnels above flood every level, keeping the Archive bright and warm rather than dark. Shelves upon shelves hold field guides, scrolls, potion recipes, and compendiums on every herb and every subject that could be used in helping Wonderlings. The Whimsywise Owl, who roosts high in the Tree above, is thought to be the Archive's true keeper — fitting, since the entrance sits in the very roots below her home. Fernlings often aid her in organizing and maintaining the Archive, though the Elder Tree itself sees to be responsible for the creation of most of the books and scrolls. When a Whimsykin comes to the Archive seeking knowledge that can't be found, often on a second look the exact book needed is found.
