The Elder Tree began as roots — countless roots that twisted and wound together over ages until they rose up into the great tree that now stands at the heart of Whimsywood. Golden swirls and flourishes of Rootlight glow softly within its bark, woven through the trunk and branches like living light. At its base, where the huge roots knot together, the tree opens into many hollows: small cave-like openings, quiet spring-fed pools, and doorways to places deeper below.
