What is the Apothecary Apprentice Academy?

Each Apothecary Apprentice Academy class follows a story where a Whimsywood character is working through big feelings or a new challenge, guided by the Keeper of the Apothecary. Along the way, the Keeper introduces four herbs — each paired with its own body or movement practice, like stretching, breathing, or gentle movement — to help work through those feelings and find calm.

The theme is different every month. Last month's theme was Steadiness, following Bramble the Puffleback as his big, overwhelming feelings got the better of him until the Keeper helped him find his way back to calm. This month's theme is Rest, featuring Lumi the Glowshroom and the calming magic of lavender.

What to Expect

As the story unfolds, we pause to explore each herb — fresh or dried — together with its movement practice, then brew that ingredient into a potion as the story continues. By the end, each child bottles, seals, and decorates their own potion to take home.

Every class also includes a take-home apothecary craft tied to the month's theme. For Steadiness, it was a custom tea blend; for Rest, it'll be a bath bomb to help wind down and get ready for sleep.

Kids also take home a beautifully decorated Field Guide page for each of the four herbs explored that day — complete with the body, movement, or breath practice that supports it. Collected month after month, these pages grow into their very own Whimsywood Field Guide: a keepsake compendium of herbal knowledge and calming practices, built one story at a time.
